Booking Website: Faster Checkout with More Payment Methods & Stronger Fraud Protection

We're rolling out a 2-step checkout on the Booking Website, along with additional payment methods (APM) for Due Today charges.

What's New:

  • 2-step checkout flow: Step 1 collects guest details and reservation info; Step 2 collects only the payment.

  • More payment methods available: Pay Now charges now support APMs like iDEAL, Affirm, Pix, ACH, and most BNPL options.

  • 3DS on Pay Now charges: Full 3D Secure authentication is now applied to the charge amount.

  • Instant calendar block: As soon as guests complete Step 1, the reservation is created and the calendar is blocked with the status "Awaiting payment".

How It Works:

  • After Step 1, the reservation is created with the status "Awaiting payment" and the calendar is blocked.

  • The guest then completes Step 2 using their preferred payment method:

  • Successful payment → reservation confirmed as "New".

  • No payment within 30 minutes → reservation moves to "Expired" and the calendar frees up.

Why This Matters:

  • Unlocks your payment stack: offer the APMs guests already prefer, increasing conversion on your direct bookings.

  • Fewer declines: Pay Now capture with 3DS significantly reduces bank declines.

  • Fewer lost disputes: 3DS shifts fraud liability to the issuer, protecting you against chargebacks.

  • A cleaner guest experience: no more confusing $0 authorization, and a checkout flow that feels modern and familiar.
